San Francisco UPS gunman 'had complained about overtime

A UPS employee who killed three colleagues at a San Francisco depot of the postal firm before turning the gun on himself has been named.
Jimmy Lam, 38, killed Wayne Chan, 56, Benson Louie, 50, and 46-year-old Michael Lefiti, in the attack, the city medical examiner said.
Two other employees were shot at the four-storey facility, but survived.
The attacker, who authorities said was armed with an "assault pistol", shot himself as police closed in.
United Parcel Service (UPS) spokesman Steve Gaut told AP news agency an employee opened fire on colleagues before drivers were sent out for deliveries.
Teamsters Union official Joseph Cilia told AP news agency that Lam had filed a grievance complaining he was working excessive overtime.
Mr Cilia said: "I never knew Jimmy to not get along with people. Jimmy wasn't a big complainer."

All the reasons Conor McGregor doesn’t stand a chance against Floyd Mayweather

s the drumbeat for a Floyd Mayweather-Conor McGregor fight grew progressively louder over the past two years — culminating in Wednesday’s announcement that the boxing match between the pugilist and the mixed martial artist would take place Aug. 26 in Las Vegas — one constant remained: The bout would be interesting in theory but a bloodbath on paper, with Mayweather wiping the floor with McGregor. And indeed, the early odds reflect that.

Good morning.
Here’s what you need to know:
• Congressman in critical condition.
Representative Steve Scalise, the majority whip in the House, was among four people shot on Wednesday by a lone gunman at a congressional Republican baseball practice in suburban Washington. An aide, a lobbyist and a Capitol Police officer were also shot.
The suspect, identified by the authorities as James Hodgkinson, died after a shootout with the police. He was said to be distraught over President Trump’s election and had previously volunteered for Senator Bernie Sanders.
We have video from the scene in Alexandria, Va., and a map showing what happened.
President Trump called for unity after the shooting, the latest example in a grim trend. Shaken lawmakers softened their partisan tone, and some pressed to loosen restrictions on gun access.

YouTube icon Anthony Padilla is leaving Smosh

For 12 years, Ian Hecox and Anthony Padilla have served as an inseparable videomaking duo. On their Smosh channel, they have released more than 880 videos, which have gathered 22 million subscribers and received 6.4 billion views. For almost all of the time that YouTube has existed, Smosh has been one of its most popular channels. It has served several stints as the site’s most-subscribed hub, and was the first channel to achieve an 8-digit subscriber count.
It is fair to say that Hecox and Padilla’s creative partnership has built the most consistently successful YouTube channel of all time, but all things must end. Padilla revealed this week that he is leaving Smosh to create videos on his personal channel.
Hecox and Padilla jointly announced Padilla’s departure from the Smosh brand in an emotional video. “I just need to do what’s best for me, and that right now is to focus on creating stuff as an independent creator on my own channel,” Padilla said.

In a video he shared on his own channel, which has more than 1.3 million subscribers in its own right, Padilla added more context to his decision. “This has been something that I’ve been contemplating for a really, really long time,” he explained. He maintained that he will remain close friends with his Smosh co-founder, whom he has known for 19 years.

I’m so sad to see this chapter of my life coming to a close, but I will continue to support Ian and wish nothing but the best for him and the brand we created together. As I begin this adventure, I am excited to return to a feeling that I felt many years ago; a rush of adrenaline following a new and exciting idea. Creating as an individual is a passion that I have wanted to explore for a long time. To all those that have followed Ian and I throughout the years, I will always be so grateful for the continued love and support. As scary as this is, I am excited because I know that no matter what happens, I am following what’s true to me and what I’m passionate about. I hope to see you all on my journey.

Did you spot Taylor Swift’s cameo in Selena Gomez’s new video for Bad Liar?

Selena Gomez dropped her video for Bad Liar containing a lovely little Easter egg. Did you spot it?
Everyone knows Selena and Taylor Swift are each other’s baes, and the former just proved with a cute little nod to her pal in her latest video.
Bad Liar is a pretty funny seventies high school themed video, which sees Selena playing a love-struck teen who can’t get her teacher of her mind. She also plays several other characters, including a lecherous, crotch-grabbing dude.
And there’s a hilarious twist at the end. No spoilers here.
But amongst all of that gloriousness is a little gem that Talena/Saylor fans will almost certainly have spotted – Taylor featured in the background as a seventies rock chick.
Total friendship goals.

Floyd Mayweather vs Conor McGregor: Latest odds as UFC star McGregor proves the more popular choice

Within minutes of the announcement of Floyd Mayweather’s boxing match against Conor McGregor, bookmakers had made the undefeated American the overwhelming favourite for the contest, which will be held on August 26 at the T-Mobile Arena.
With a flawless professional record of 49-0, Mayweather is widely regarded as one of the finest boxers to have ever lived. He needs just one more victory to surpass the record of the great Rocky Marciano and has been sent to the canvas just once in his career, in a fight he came back to win.
By contrast, McGregor has never been involved in a professional boxing contest. But he is still one of the biggest stars in combat sports, having defeated Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205 to become the first fighter in the promotion’s history to hold titles in two weight divisions simultaneously.

McGregor’s straight left is also regarded as the most destructive short in professional MMA.
Nevertheless, his lack of experience in the ring means he is the rank outsider to win in Las Vegas in little over two months’ time.
Oddschecker show that the majority of bookmakers have McGregor priced at 7/1 to win the contest, with Mayweather established as the overwhelming favourite with odds as short as 1/12.

India vs Bangladesh semifinal 2017: Rohit, Kohli help India cruise into final

How easy was that? A target of 265 could have been tricky had India lost a few early wickets but Bangladesh somehow didn't look like taking any. This would have to rank as one of Rohit's most stylish knocks - effortless and chanceless. Virat Kohli was unstoppable too and the Bangladesh players lost the game fairly early because they looked flat on the field. Their slide began when Kedar Jadhav claimed the wickets of Mushfiqur and Tamim. It sucked the momentum out of their innings and in the end they were, well, 80-90 short?
We've had two one-sided semifinals. How will the final turn out? India will meet Pakistan for the final and the league match between them was anything but competitive.  Pakistan have improved since that game so if their bowlers can repeat that sort of performance in the semis, things will get interesting. This will be India's 4th final and Pakistan's first in the Champions Trophy. Join us again on Sunday. Goodbye.

Updates

Virat Kohli: "We didn't expect to win by nine wickets. Says a lot about the quality of our batsmen. Jadhav is not a surprise package. He's a smart guy, he knows where to pitch the ball. Today was an opportunity for me to play the way I want. Rohit was outstanding. We might be tested in the final. It's not a worry if the middle order has not had much opportunities to bat. It's a worry if the middle order is batting too much."
Mashrafe: "When Kedar took the two set batsmen out it was a huge setback for us. Hopefully next Champions Tropjhy we will be even stronger. Skill wise we are fine but mentally we need to be a bit stronger. Otherwise, spot on."
Rohit Sharma is the Man of the Match: "It's special since my hundred has come in a winning cause. I missed out the last few games so I was determined to score a hundred this time. As soon as Virat walked in you felt like he was batting overnight. This was such a good wicket to bat on. You had to make a mistake to get out."
40.1 overs - India 265/1. Target 265
No Kohli can't get a century but he's anything but disappointed here. A four driven through the covers seals the win, he punches the air and India have decimated Bangladesh by 9 wickets to set up their date with Pakistan on Sunday for the final at The Oval.
Can Kohli somehow get a century?
39 overs - India 256/1. Target 265
Dropped short and Kohli pulls Sabbir ro deep midwicket. A single to long-off brings up 8000 ODI runs for Kohli! The fastest to get there. Sorry Sachin
38 overs - India 249/1. Target 265
Shakib drifts on the pads and Kohli nudges it down to fine leg. Then Rohit scoops one over extra cover. India making this look ridiculously easy
37 overs - India 239/1. Target 265
Short and wide and slashed over gully and down to third man. Four easy runs for Kohli. Taskin then bowls the short one to Rohit and he pulls to deep square leg to bring up the 150 stand. Virat Kohli is ten away from 8000 ODI runs.
35 overs - India 224/1. Target 265
The field is up so all you need to do is find the gap and the ball does the rest. That's how easy batting has been today. Rohit gently pushes Taskin wide of mid-off and the fielder didn't feel the need to dive
34 overs - India 218/1. Target 265
Even Bangladesh want to get this over with quickly. Kohli drives Shakib to wide long-off, the fielder chases, doesn't put in a dive and the ball rolls over the ropes
33 overs - India 212/1. Target 265
Rohit gets to his century with a boundary but his heart would have been in his mouth as he hooked it towards fine leg. The fielder was running to his right and the ball just about beat his dive and landed on the rope. Rohit's 11th hundred and perhaps his most attractive one. Sublime and (almost) chanceless
31 overs - India 198/1. Target 265
This Bangladesh attack is as flat and deflated as England's yesterday. Mahmudullah comes on and he starts off with a half tracker that's bashed by Virat bisecting two fielders at deep square leg. Then the bowler tries the fuller length but he gives width and the ball rockets to sweeper cover
30 overs - India 188/1. Target 265
Fifty for Kohli and he gets there with a swat in front of square on the on side, beating the midwicket fielder. He didn't even make that shot look all that aggressive - relied on timing and placement
28 overs - India 177/1.
Target 265Nothing going Bangladesh's way. A top edge by Rohit lands safely at extra cover, Shakib gave that some air; then Kohli gets a thick outside edge looking to dab it to third man but Mishfiqur failed to get his hands behind that
27 overs - India 173/1. Target 265
Mossadek and Taskin bowling in tandem. Mossadek tosses one up and Kohli drives with ease to sweeper cover. 6 bowlers have been used.
23 overs - India 156/1. Target 265
At this rate we'll all be home quickly. Three more boundaries off the over from Rubel. Kohli sends the first to sweeper cover; Rohit effortlessly cuts the second to backward point; the third is also helped on its way square on the off side
22 overs - India 140/1. Target 265
Not a good day for the Fizz. Pitched up on the pads and Virat easily works it wide of midwicket, half volley outside off and a text book cover drive by Kohli costs another boundary. Looking at the way the Indian batsmen have progressed, you wonder if Bangladesh are 70 short.

Will Jerry West be a catalyst for change for the Clippers after leaving Warriors?

Jerry West's departure from the Golden State Warriors for the Los Angeles Clippers won't save the Clippers, either in a perilous free agency beginning July 1 with Chris PaulBlake Griffin, and J.J. Redick unrestricted, or beyond should those three return for another run with the club. And West's departure won't sink the Warriors, who likely will have little trouble sustaining their momentum without him. So while this is not a league-altering move, it's not something to brush over. Here's what matters (and does not) regarding West's move.

Warriors are not short on brains

Golden State's talented roster makes anyone look smart. They have arguably the two best shooters in NBA history, and Kevin Durant, and Draymond Green. With Steve Kerr on the sideline, it doesn't take a Mensa membership to run the club.
Beyond that, the Warriors have significant brain power atop the league's best infrastructure. They have a GM who balances careful vs. aggressive in Bob Meyers, a strong analytics and health sciences group, adequately funded resources and an owner who will spend what it takes to be great. Losing West is losing a good voice in the room, but the Warriors' approach to team building has always been collaborative under Joe Lacob and Peter Guber. Even without West, they will not suffer for insight. Building this juggernaut has taught every member of the team a wealth of lessons ... and, again, they have Durant.

West helped generate balance

West wasn't the only voice saying no to a proposed Kevin Love-for-Klay Thompson deal back in 2014, but his was a loud one, according to multiple reports and Mychal Thompson. West served as an old school counter-balance to the new-age Warriors. There are no analytics suggesting what a Love-for-Thompson swap would have meant to the Warriors. But we do know West isn't big on analytics, to the point of him saying he doesn't see them having a lot of success.

'Bachelor in Paradise' star Corinne Olympios plans lawsuit: 'I am a victim'

Corinne Olympios arrives at the Los Angeles premiere of "Unforgettable" at the TCL Chinese Theatre on Tuesday, April 18, 2017. (The Associated Press)

Corinne Olympios says she's the victim in the "Bachelor in Paradise" sex scandal that caused "The Bachelor" spinoff to shut down production.
The reality star released a statement Wednesday announcing that she's planning a lawsuit after getting drunk and performing sex acts with fellow contestant DeMario Jackson in Mexico -- all while cameras were rolling. All cast members were sent home after a field producer filed a misconduct complaint, alleging that Corinne may have been too drunk to consent to sex and that the show may not have done enough to prevent sexual assault.
"I am a victim and have spent the last week trying to make sense of what happened on June 4," Corinne said. "Although I have little memory of that night, something bad obviously took place, which I understand is why production on the show has now been suspended and a producer on the show has filed a complaint against the production."
"As a woman, this is my worst nightmare and it has now become my reality."
Variety reports she's hired top Hollywood lawyer Marty Singer, whose past clients included Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bryan Singer, John Travolta and Bill Cosby. In 2011, the high-profile attorney helped Charlie Sheen sue Warner Bros. TV, the production company behind "Bachelor in Paradise," for $100 million over the actor's firing from "Two and a Half Men."
